Position: Senior Electrical Engineer
Reporting to: Director, Platform Systems
Summary:
In this position you will be responsible for the architecture, design, and production release of rugged enterprise focused tablet devices. This role requires close collaboration with cross functional teams and suppliers as well as detailed design work and hands on debug and lab testing. Travel to Asia for key program activities is also required. Ideal candidate will enjoy the challenge of designing highly integrated products incorporating rapidly advancing state-of-the art technologies.
Essential Job Functions:
- Evaluate and propose new customer needs based product concepts and solutions.
- Continually assess new component and manufacturing technologies which may be incorporated into future programs.
- Actively participate in the overall design stack-up and floor planning for new platforms.
- Complete circuit design, schematic capture, PCB layout, and electrical evaluation in conjunction with ODM partners.
- Develop test plans and perform detailed electrical evaluation to insure proper circuit operation.
- Debug issues during the pre-production phases and support evaluation builds, testing, and problem resolution.
- Build and test circuit modifications including soldering, rework, and assembly of prototype units for testing.
- Solicit and incorporate feedback from other engineering team members and provide support for safety and agency certification testing and approvals.
- Document key decisions and utilize bug and revision tracking programs.
- Write electrical and system level engineering specifications and design guides.
Qualifications and Experience
Experience and Education Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering is required.
- In depth knowledge of electrical theories, design principles and practices, and design evaluation techniques required.
- Demonstrated ability to drive the development of new technology products from concept to volume production is required.
- Design experience with PC notebooks, tablet computers, or similar devices is strongly preferred.
- Experience working with Asia based suppliers, contract manufacturers, and ODMs strongly preferred.
- Excellent time management, communications, presentation and organization skills are required.
